The structure features an anodized aluminum base with a spring mechanism for inserting/removing the glass diffuser, which is decorated with internal bubbles and a semi-transparent surface. The lamp diffuses a soft, ambient light, suitable for design spaces with mid-century and contemporary aesthetics. Afra Bianchin (Afra Scarpa) Born March 28, 1937, Montebelluna (Veneto, Italy). A planner, architect and designer, she worked closely with her husband Tobia from the early 1960s. Their style combined elegance, attention to materials and technical innovation, with projects in glass, furniture, interior design and architecture. Tobia Scarpa Born January 1, 1935, in Venice, Italy, son of architect Carlo Scarpa. Trained in architecture/design, with experience also working in glass (ex. Venini in Murano). He has collaborated with many Italian companies (Flos, B&B Italia, Cassina, Gavina) and has received several awards, including a Compasso d'Oro (1969) and prestigious awards in international design. Their works are exhibited in design museum collections. Flos is a historic Italian lighting company, founded in the 1960s, which brought technological and stylistic innovation to the field of lamps. He has worked with designers such as the Castiglioni brothers, Achille, and with Tobia Scarpa since his early days. Flos has helped popularize many icons of Italian lighting design, experimenting with materials and functional solutions.
