This exceptional hanging lamp attributed to renowned French designer Pierre Guariche from the 1950s is a true masterpiece of mid-century modern design. Crafted from brass, the lamp features a striking red spherical counterweight—an unprecedented color for the era—adding a bold and unique touch to this iconic piece. At the base of the counterweight is an elegant brass detail, further enhancing its refined aesthetic.
The diabolo-shaped lampshade is a hallmark of mid-century french design, with a sophisticated color combination: green on the upper half, black on the lower half, and a white interior to provide a soft, diffused light.
The lamp’s structure is equally remarkable, with brass rods connected by a central, ring-like hub through which the wiring runs. This innovative swingarm mechanism allows the lamp to rotate, adjust, and swing, offering both functionality and style. Additionally, the shade itself is pivotable, allowing for precise light direction.
