This elegant ceiling light is a striking example of Swedish Art Deco lighting design, created in the 1940s by the esteemed manufacturer Bröderna Malmströms. Crafted from a harmonious blend of materials, the lamp exudes both strength and refinement. The round frosted glass diffuser is bordered by a brass frame wrapped in off-white silk, and composed of a constellation of zodiacal reliefs, cast in brass, whose figural silhouettes alternate dynamically around the circumference. The fixture doesn't get unnoticed – a vertical brass rod extends downward into a series of round discs. Its refined decorative composition, thoughtful use of materials, and exceptional craftsmanship embody the spirit of Swedish Modernism, blending playful whimsy with classical elegance.
Based in Malmö, Bröderna earned its place among other major players in the Swedish lighting industry, including Nordiska Kompaniet in Nyköping, Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, and Böhlmarks in Stockholm.
