About the Item

Called "Poliedri" in Italian and known as "Polyhedral" in English, this design was created by Carlos Scarpa (1906-1978) for Venini when he was their artistic director from 1933 to 1947. While working for Venini, Scarpa reshaped the forms used by Venini and influenced all 20th century glass making with his modern design, new color coatings and techniques. Each glass Poliedri piece is mouth blown. With a diameter of 85cm, this chandelier represents an incredibly impressive piece of contemporary history and design. It illuminated the staircase of a Parisian city villa, where it was an eye-catcher of particular elegance. Ø 85cm 110cm total height each glass is ca. 12cm high Ø 6cm The weight should be about 20 to 25 kilograms. For transport the chandelier will be disassembled. All glasses will be protected and packed with great care. Erik Gunnar Asplund, “GA9” Wall Lights for ASEA, Sweden 1940s
By ASEA, Hans Bergström, Erik Gunnar Asplund, Lisa Johansson-Pape
Located in Munster, NRW
With its organically shaped blown glass shade, especially rare in this opaline frosted glass version, the GA9 resembles a floating droplet. Designed by Swedish architect Erik Gunnar Asplund, widely regarded as the godfather of Swedish modernism, this lamp embodies his signature geometric clarity and structural ingenuity. Like his Stockholm City Library, it balances simplicity with innovation. A bent arm holds the glass, while another secures the light source at the luminaire’s center. The black lacquered metal curves organically, contrasting with polygonal backplates—an interplay of geometry and fluidity that defines Asplund’s vision. The large, mushroom-like shades diffuse light in a soft, mesmerizing glow, enhancing the atmosphere beyond mere functionality. Asplund’s influence extended to Scandinavian design icons such as Alvar Aalto, Erik Bryggman...

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have designed Planophore 2014 for Vitra as a dual-purpose - room divider and bookshelf. Its open sides create a horizontal emphasis underscored by the solid shelves with rounded bottom edges, which are reminiscent of aircraft wings and appear to float on the vertical panels. This also explains the name of the shelf: the original Planophore made its debut in 1871 as the first stable model aeroplane...
