About the Item

A unique and wonderfully decorative Continental 19th century Wrought Iron, patinated and Gilt Iron chandelier. This handsome eight light chandelier is designed in the shape of a Viking Longboat with a classically represented front horse figurehead. The eight scrolled arms are decorated by Gilt Iron shields with colorful circular motifs throughout. At the top of the arms are saucers below the wax candle covers. The chandelier is held by its original Iron link chain from both ends of the vessel and joined at the center by a support in the shape of an anchor. Above the anchor is the remaining original link chain leading to the original canopy. Original Chain Length: 38"
