Large mid-19th century Dutch Baroque Revival chandelier in solid cast brass, with twelve candle holders, finely turned details, scrollwork arms and its original brass ceiling plate.
A substantial Dutch Baroque Revival chandelier from the mid-19th century, executed in solid cast brass and enriched with the refined detailing associated with historical lighting from the Low Countries. The central stem features finely turned profiles, while the twelve arms display elegant scrolling forms inspired by the 17th and 18th century Dutch Baroque tradition.
The heavy spherical pendant, broad drip pans and precisely turned candle sockets reflect the craftsmanship and accuracy typical of quality Dutch production of this period. The brass surface has developed a warm patina with natural age-related oxidation, enhancing its authentic character. Its twelve candle holders provide a soft, traditional candlelit glow that highlights the depth of the metal and the refined workmanship.
The chandelier is accompanied by its original 19th century brass ceiling plate, an uncommon survival that adds to the completeness and integrity of the piece.
An authentic and well preserved Dutch example of Baroque Revival metalwork, structurally solid and decorative.
