About the Item

Elegant French Empire chandelier featuring a sculptural alabaster bowl and six-point illumination. A refined French Empire–style chandelier distinguished by its balanced proportions, luminous alabaster bowl, and six thoughtfully arranged light points that create both ambient and architectural illumination. This elegant early 20th-century French Empire–style chandelier exemplifies the period’s emphasis on symmetry, classical restraint, and high-quality materials. At its center is a beautifully veined alabaster bowl, softly diffusing light and anchoring the composition with a sculptural, architectural presence. The lighting configuration is particularly well considered: three exterior light points provide outward ambient illumination, while three interior light points enhance the alabaster bowl from within, creating depth, warmth, and an even glow. This dual illumination makes the chandelier both functional and visually engaging. The chandelier is suspended by substantial bronze chains with select brass accents, complemented by finely detailed mounts and a matching canopy. The metal elements display a natural, harmonious patina consistent with age, contributing to the chandelier’s authentic character without overpowering its refined aesthetic. The frosted, flame-shaped glass lampshades are later replacements, discreetly integrated and stylistically in line with the design. Their presence has been noted for transparency, while remaining visually consistent with the period appearance. A well-proportioned piece—neither oversized nor small—this chandelier is ideal for dining rooms, salons, or elegant living spaces where a classical yet understated focal point is desired. An acquisition that remains relevant regardless of market cycles. Light Configuration: Six light points total (six sockets for E27 (E26) light bulbs): Three exterior light points; Three interior light points illuminate the alabaster bowl. Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended. Dimensions: Total height: approx. 70 cm (27.6 in) Total diameter: approx. 42 cm (16.5 in) Alabaster bowl diameter: approx. 34 cm (13.4 in) In good condition, with slight patina to the metal elements and typical signs of aging consistent with the alabaster’s age and use.
