About the Item

Made from bronze and fine-grained alabaster, the chandelier features hand-painted cherry blossoms on each cream-colored shade. When illuminated, these shades emit a warm amber glow, highlighting the floral designs and setting a cozy atmosphere. The chandelier's baluster-shaped center is adorned with four s-scroll arms featuring intricate foliate motifs, adding a touch of historical charm. Alabaster, a smooth sedimentary gypsum rock, has been valued for its carving ease and aesthetic appeal since ancient times. Its popularity dates back to ancient Egyptians, who gave alabaster its name after its use by the followers of the cat goddess Bast, also referred to as the “eye of the moon”. This chandelier seamlessly blends beauty and functionality. Its warm glow and detailed design make it a standout piece for any elegant interior. Dimensions without ceiling cover and chain: H=20 in. W=26 in. D=26 in. 30 lbs.

Early 20th Century French Rococo Revival Five Arm Bronze and Crystal Chandelier
Located in Chicago, IL
This early 20th-century five-arm Rococo-style bronze and crystal chandelier features porcelain plaques inspired by the works of Jean-Honoré Fragonard, a renowned French Rococo painter. The Rococo style is celebrated for its ornate elements, intricate curves, and nature-inspired motifs. The chandelier's cast bronze body is adorned with porcelain plaques and crystal prisms in various shapes and sizes. Encrusted crystal beads at the bottom enhance illumination and beauty. When lit, the faceted crystals create a brilliant display, complementing the exquisite bronze detailing. This chandelier blends seamlessly with another similar chandelier, which, while not identical, mirrors its aesthetic charm. The other chandelier, made of gilt bronze and brass, complements this one beautifully, despite lacking gilding. Gilt bronze, also known as ormolu, has been gilded with a thin layer of gold, giving it a more luxurious and luminous appearance than plain bronze, which retains its natural, darker patina. They also pair harmoniously with our tall early 20th-century French Giltwood Mirror featuring Fragonard porcelain...
