About the Item

A superb example in the style of late-19th-century English glassmaking, this 12-light gasolier attributed to F. C. Osler showcases the refined workmanship and elegant proportions for which the firm was renowned. Osler pieces of this scale are prized for their exceptional clarity, intricate cutting, and beautifully balanced forms — qualities fully evident in this chandelier. The fixture features: Twelve sweeping glass arms, each richly ribbed and terminating in finely detailed mounts. Twelve deeply cut glass shades, decorated with alternating leaf and lattice motifs that create luminous sparkle and a distinctive Osler visual rhythm. A central column composed of fluted, faceted, and molded elements, rising to a graceful upper fountain of blown glass. Hand-cut bobeches, period-appropriate metalwork, and original profile, all contributing to the chandelier’s authenticity and architectural presence. The glass components display excellent clarity with crisp cutting throughout. Proportions are generous but refined, making the piece suitable for grand entry halls, dining rooms, or interiors seeking a dramatic historic focal point. The chandelier has been professionally rewired for modern use, maintaining its period aesthetics while offering contemporary functionality. Osler chandeliers of this scale rarely appear on the market, and the combination of intricate cutwork, full 12-light configuration, and elegant silhouette make this an especially good find as a slightly later example.
