Exquisite French Gilt Bronze Chandelier with Cherubs and Frosted Glass Floral Shades, circa 1900
An exceptionally rare and charming French gilt bronze chandelier, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1920), designed in the Rococo revival style. This piece features three joyful cherubic children in finely detailed sculptural form, holding out individual light branches adorned with delicate frosted glass floral shades.
The quality of casting and gilding is superb, with intricate acanthus leaves, classical drapery, and playful gestures all rendered in extraordinary detail. Suspended from an ornately decorated canopy via three fluted and ornamented rods, this chandelier is a true statement piece, suitable for refined interiors — from grand salons to luxurious yachts.
Originally purchased from an antique dealer in the 1980s, this chandelier is believed to have once graced a luxury ship, adding a rare maritime provenance to its already impressive history.
