About the Item

Finn Juhl 'FJ Elements' Pendant in Grey for Louis Poulsen This lamp design is one of the few ever created by Finn Juhl (1912-1989), one of Denmark's most renowned architects. Initially designed in 1963, the pendant and table lamp were reintroduced as 'FJ Elements' in 2025, including the original two-toned grey variant. Executed in matte wet painted aluminum with a polycarbonate diffuser and die-cast aluminum lampholder cover. The lamp's name comes from Finn Juhl's hand sketches, in which he described it as being composed of "elements". These early drawings document the lamp’s form, proportions and the concept for an entire lamp series, and also tell of its overall construction. While the materials and geometric lines of the 'FJ Elements’ design stand out in their simplicity, the playful creativity is evident in how the upper shade can rotate around on the lower shade. This function allows you to control the direction of the light in multiple ways, while also transforming the lamp's appearance. Price is per item. Available in unlimited quantities in choice of black, grey, or white. Also available as a table lamp in separate listings. This listing is for the 'FJ Elements' pendant in grey. Toldbod Pendant
By Louis Poulsen
Located in Berkeley, CA
The pendant emits soft downwards directed light. The matte, white-painted inside of the elliptical shade helps to assure even distribution of the light. The Louis Poulsen design team developed the Toldbod family based on the light distribution of the PH Ellipse reflector: the last street light concept by Poul Henningsen. The first introduction was the Toldbod 290 outdoor family in 1982. Following its success, the Toldbod glass indoor pendants were launched. The metal pendants were added later and complemented by the four larger editions in 2019. The Toldbod pendant...

Poul Henningsen PH5 Mini Pendant in Hues of Grey for Louis Poulsen
By Louis Poulsen, Poul Henningsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Poul Henningsen PH5 mini pendant for Louis Poulsen. Designed 1958, Mini in 2017. New, current production. Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to constant changes made to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs by bulb manufacturers, naming it after the size of the pendant’s main shade, which is 50 cm in diameter. When the lamp was introduced, he wrote, typically daringly, about how he had lost faith that the manufacturers of incandescent light bulbs would ever learn to consider common sense or have the consumer’s best interest at heart: “I have accepted fate, and with Louis Poulsen´s permission I have designed a PH fixture, which can be used with any kind of light source, Christmas lights and 100 W metal filament bulbs. Although a fluorescent tube would be too much to ask in the existing form!” At the time, now one knew that the PH 5 would become synonymous with the PH light...

Poul Henningsen Ph 2/1 Pendant
By Poul Henningsen, Louis Poulsen
Located in Berkeley, CA
The fixture design is based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of hand-blown, opal, three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed, and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source. The PH 2...
