About the Item
A beautiful hand blown glass shade pendant light by famous glass house Fratelli Toso Vetreria of Murano, Italy. The cone shape shade is hand blown in colored and clear glass. The top is of the cone is a taupe beige color layered over white showing from the inside. The bottom and widest pare of the cone is clear glass with mini bubbles in a swirl pattern. The blowing of glass with internal bubbles is a technique know as "pulegoso." The pendant light is 16.5" in diameter and 15" high. With the original cord and canopy the light has a 72" drop. The lamp has one interior socket and hangs on a steel cable with a spiral electrical cord around it. All original as found. Some lose of chrome plate on the ceiling canopy, otherwise very good condition.
Fratelli Toso is a historic Murano glass manufacturer, founded in 1854 by six brothers from the Toso family. They are known for their diverse production, including classic blown glass, pieces using the murrina technique, and modern art glass designs, especially from the 1950s onwards.
