About the Item

A beautiful and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque Period Ormolu and Rock Crystal chandelier, attributed to Henry Dasson. This stunning six arm chandelier displays a lovely inverted bottom foliate finial centered by four fine foliate plaques. At the center are three wonderfully detailed and most charming cherubs seemingly flying through the air. Each cherub is draped in a flowing fabric and holds a branch decorated with finely chased leaves in each hand. From the scrolled arms with flowers are hanging large and impressive water drop Rock Crystals pendants. At the center is the fluted body which displays a most decorative pierced star and foliate design with three elegant chains leading to the foliate canopy. *Shades, Canopies and Chain are shown for display purposes, sold separately. Henry Dasson (1825–1896) was a renowned 19th century Parisian maker of gilt-bronze mounted furniture. Dasson specialized in the production of Louis XIV, XV and XVI styles, using the finest gilt-bronze mounts and was recognized as a brilliant bronzier.  Dasson was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur in 1883 and was awarded the Grand Prix Artistique at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle.
