About the Item

An impressive and large scale French 19th century Louis XIV st. ormolu chandelier. The twelve arm chandelier is centered by a striking bottom foliate finial below the reeded and elegantly curved body with exceptional scrolled movements with beautiful richly chased maidens. The arms branch out over two tiers each displaying a most decorative scrolled design and adorned with large acanthus leaves leading to reeded bobeches and fine baluster shaped candle cups. The central fut displays three beautiful scrolled elements with foliate designs and superb urn shaped finials encasing the curvaceous central reserve with elegant palmette set on a most decorative etched background. Above a tied reeded band and the scrolled foliate top hoop is the original chain and reeded canopy. Measure: Height with canopy and chain: 47.5".
