About the Item

A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Ormolu chandelier. This most elegant nine arm chandelier is centered at the bottom by a charming acorn finial below the reeded base. Above is an exceptionally detailed, richly chased and weaved Ormolu basket with a lovely clover design, while the corners are decorated by elongated acanthus leaves above the bottom finial. On the sides of the basket are three double 'S' scrolled arms with with foliate designs leading to the circular saucers and candle cups. Three additional 'S' scrolled arms protrude out of the weaved basket, while flanked by decorative pierced crown like finials. Above are three scrolled foliate stems which lead to three decorative foliate ovals all below the top crown. Rich chasing and gilding throughout. *Shades, Canopies and Chain shown for display purposes, sold separately.
