About the Item

A very fine and Palatial French 19th century Louis XV Style gilt bronze, crystal and cut-glass Twenty-Four-light chandelier, probably by Baccarat. The central molded cut-glass stem surmounted with crystal obelisks, fleur de lis and cut-crystal pendants in the form of stars, drops, pines, swirls and shields, all within scrolled gilt bronze candle arms with floral wax-holders and dropped leaves. The lower section surmounted with gilt bronze sea-shells and ending with a floral rosette with a hanging cut-blown-glass sphere. All gilding is the original and high quality mercury gilt, Paris, circa 1880-1890. Height: 76 inches (193.1 cm) Diameter: 53 inches (134.6 cm).
