About the Item

An elegant and most charming French 19th century Louis XV st. Baccarat crystal, patinated and gilt iron chandelier. The twelve arm chandelier is centered by an impressive solid smooth crystal ball amidst an array of exquisite clear and amethyst colored kite and teardrop shaped Baccarat cut crystal pendants. Each of the twelve elegantly scrolled patinated iron arms are adorned with handsome gilt metal acanthus leaves and teardrop shaped Baccarat crystals leading to gilt metal candle cups with additional sunburst shaped crystal rosettes. At the center is a rare and most impressive amethyst colored crystal dagger above a crystal socle shaped pedestal support from where the scrolled arms branch out. Leading upwards are four patinated iron supports connected by an elegant gilt metal rosette below the stunning top crown with sprays of amethyst and clear cut crystals. All original gilt and patina throughout.
