About the Item

A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, Wedgwood porcelain and crystal chandelier. The six light chandelier has a central circular ormolu frame decorated by swaging berried laurel garlands which are held up by large bows. The garlands flank four wonderfully detailed Wedgwood plaques which are fitted within oval ormolu mottled frames topped by an additional bow. Below the plaques are two conjoined 'C' scrolled fluted arms which have bottom chased acanthus leaves and end with a beaded band around the saucer. The hanging cut faceted crystals are below the pleated silk backplate which decorates the plaques and garlands. The chandelier is held by four double ormolu bejeweled link chains which are joined at the top with a circular design which holds a beautiful teardrop crystal. Above is the top reserve with a lovely foliate spray. *Shades shown for display purposes, sold separately.
