About the Item

A most elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Opaline Glass and Ormolu chandelier. This most unique six armed chandelier is centered at the bottom by a large and finely chased Ormolu acorn finial leading up to an Ormolu cup decorated with foliate designs holding the lower Opaline Glass section. Separating the lower and upper Glass sections is a an Ormolu band of knotted drapery swags topped with a Rai de Coeur border. The six S-scroll arms with Rinceaux movements are attached to the band and end with finely chased candle cups and bobeches. Above is the central fut consisting of two slender sections of Opaline Glass separated by four Ormolu foliate crowns, ending with a spade shaped foliate hoop. *Shades, Canopies and Chain shown for display purposes, sold separately.

A magnificent and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and cut Glass chandelier. This exquisite twelve arm twelve light chandelier is centered by a glass prism cut bottom finial hanging below a glass rosette and an array of berried foliate Ormolu decorations. The central fut above is decorated by acanthus leaves, beaded bands, weaving pattern bands, cherub busts, acorn ornaments, pierced foliate designs, hanging garments, and rosette pendants. Emerging from the collage of decorations on the body of the fut are the twelve 'C' scrolled foliate decorated arms. Each arm displays a tear drop glass central reserve and a group of scallop and tear drop cut glass pendants hanging below the foliate designed candle cups.
