About the Item

An impressive and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu chandelier. The twelve arm chandelier is centered by a beautiful bottom acorn finial below a fine reeded and elegantly curved fluted reserve from where the four sets of three arm branch out. At the center is a stunning fluted spiral urn with the exquisite eternal flame and richly chased Nemean lion mounts. The striking arms are adorned with large finely detailed acanthus leaves in a superb satin and burnished finish and display fine fluted designs leading to reeded and beaded bobeches and fluted baluster shaped candle cups. The lightly curved cage leads upwards to the striking top crown with exceptional intricately detailed swaging berried laurel garlands.
