About the Item

A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and frosted glass chandelier. The four arm five light chandelier is centered by a fine bottom acorn and reeded finial below the beautiful frosted glass dome which houses one light bulb giving off a warm glow. At the center is a most decorative wrap around interlocking ormolu band with palmettes and handsome richly chased rams heads from where each fluted elegantly scrolled arm extends, adorned with a large acanthus leaf. Charming swaging beaded chains extend around the body and tied at finely detailed rosettes and displaying lovely hanging tassels. Four unique foliate chains and the fluted central support lead upward to the striking pierced top crown decorated with beautiful leaves and palmettes. * Shades are shown for display purposes only.

A magnificent and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and cut Glass chandelier. This exquisite twelve arm twelve light chandelier is centered by a glass prism cut bottom finial hanging below a glass rosette and an array of berried foliate Ormolu decorations. The central fut above is decorated by acanthus leaves, beaded bands, weaving pattern bands, cherub busts, acorn ornaments, pierced foliate designs, hanging garments, and rosette pendants. Emerging from the collage of decorations on the body of the fut are the twelve 'C' scrolled foliate decorated arms. Each arm displays a tear drop glass central reserve and a group of scallop and tear drop cut glass pendants hanging below the foliate designed candle cups.
