About the Item

A beautiful and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, patinated bronze, and crystal chandelier. The eleven light montgolfier shaped chandelier is centered by a richly chased bottom berried foliate finial below a fine circular mottled palmette designed ormolu reserve. Most decorative swaging beaded crystal garlands lead to the impressive and wonderfully executed wrap around ormolu band with stunning Vitruvian scrolls and charming tied ribbons set on a patinated bronze background and adorned with intricately detailed swaging floral garlands. Additional swaging beaded crystal garlands lead upwards encasing the eleven light bulbs offering a lovely warm glow in low lighting and leading to the striking top crown. The top crown displays a wonderful array of scrolled movements, foliate designs, a reeded reserve, and impressive leaves at the top. All original gilt and patina throughout.
