About the Item

A charming and extremely decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and glass lantern. The lantern displays a fine pierced baluster shaped wrap around ormolu band at the base with four fine acorn finals. The four original curved hand blown glass panes are fitted within elegant mottled ormolu bands with beautiful swaging beaded garlands tied with charming finely detailed bows above. At the center is one door which is secured by its original latch which opens to access the four curved arms inside. Above are four elegantly curved supports with lovely foliate designs and four striking richly chased flowers.
