About the Item

A superb French 19th century Neo-Classical st. ormolu and patinated bronze nine arm chandelier. The chandelier is centered by a richly chased bottom acorn finial below the central patinated bronze ball. Standing on the ball is a charming and wonderfully executed winged cherub holding a wreath in one hand and a feather in the other symbolizing peace and freedom. Each arm displays a fine rinceaux scrolled design and swans with open wings with reeded candle caps and a foliate band. The beautiful and unique chain leads up to the impressive top crown with etched foliate designs and pierced palmettes.
