About the Item
Art Deco chandelier with black-veined alabaster bowl and frosted glass shades.
A refined French Art Deco chandelier combining sculptural alabaster with softly diffused frosted glass, designed to create both ambient and architectural light.
This elegant French Art Deco chandelier dates to the early 20th century and features a beautifully shaped white alabaster bowl with expressive black veining. The natural translucency of the stone creates a warm, atmospheric glow when illuminated, highlighting the unique mineral structure of the alabaster.
The fixture is designed with four light points: three exterior arms fitted with frosted glass shades that provide outward illumination, and one interior light source that softly illuminates the alabaster bowl from within. This layered lighting concept results in a balanced and visually rich light effect.
Decorative bronze elements with a subtle silver-toned finish form the chains, fasteners, and canopy, adding refined contrast and emphasizing the chandelier’s sculptural Art Deco character. The combination of alabaster, frosted glass, and metalwork reflects the high craftsmanship typical of French lighting from this period.
The bronze chain elements are marked with numbers and the initials “AP”, a detail sometimes associated with French bronze foundries of the period, possibly referencing the atelier of A. Petitot. While a definitive attribution cannot be confirmed, these markings point to high-quality French bronze production from the early 20th century.
Four sockets for E27 light bulbs (E26 compatible). Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended.
