About the Item

Sensational 19th century French Louis XV style doré bronze two-tier 42-light chandelier with birds. Signed BR. The exquisite doré bronze chandelier is surmounted in an ormolu acanthus crown, conjoined with double-scroll and foliate motif supports, adorned with three intricately detailed birds spreading their wings amongst flowers, the first tier is centered by a Neoclassical style gadrooned flamed urn with four ring handles, above a central platform issuing six richly chased acanthus decorated candle arms, the second tier issuing thirty-six lights on scrolling foliate-inspired arms with pierced dishpans and bronze candleholders, terminating in a large bronze finial. Includes forty-two handmade beeswax candles. Wired for the U.S. market. This chandelier is especially unique in its design and truly makes a statement.
