About the Item
A stunning vintage chandelier designed by architect Gunnar Asplund and produced by the renowned Swedish lighting manufacturer ASEA Belysning in the 1950s. This elegant piece features a brass frame with five gracefully curved arms, each holding a sculptural glass shade. The arms are anchored by a decorative obelisk crafted from solid oak. The chandelier retains its original ceiling canopy and five Bakelite lamp holders. A perfect addition to any mid-century or modern interior, this piece beautifully combines Scandinavian craftsmanship with timeless design.
ASEA, the Swedish electrical company, was established as early as 1883, specializing in the production of electrical lights and generators. By the late 1940s, ASEA had acquired several rival companies, solidifying its position as one of Sweden's premier manufacturers of light fixtures. ASEA's Stockholm drawing office was responsible for the development of numerous modernistic lamps, designed for both public spaces and domestic applications. The company collaborated with several renowned designers, including Hans Bergström and Uno Kristiansson, over the years.
