MEET THE MAKERS Dana Brandwein + Daniel Oates Husband-and-wife team Dana + Daniel traded a fast-paced NYC life for one of slow-living and sustainability in pastural Litchfield County, Connecticut. Living and working out of a converted cowshed, their studios serve as home base for a design duo that brings sustainable luxury to everyday home objects. Former record label exec Dana left working with the likes of AC/DC, Metallica, and Björk to pursue her passion for design - creating DBO HOME and collaborating with some of the world’s most renowned chefs, designers, and brands. Acclaimed sculptor Daniel, whose work is in the permanent collection at the Whitney, left the NYC art scene and representation at 303 Gallery to become a master craftsman and jack of all trades - from his iconic furniture design to building handmade full-scale sailboats. Daniel's furniture combines his sculptural point of view with traditional woodworking techniques to create one-of-a-kind heirloom quality furniture. He often lets the wood dictate what the object will become. The focus of each piece is to show off the natural beauty of the wood. While utilitarian, each piece is a work of art. Dana's porcelain tableware and accessories are made one by one with a mix of one-of-a-kind and limited edition studio series and small batch collection pieces. Together they create lighting and accessories that combine materials including porcelain, leather, wood and bronze.
