About the Item

A Hollywood Regency Style Gilt Bronze and Cut Rock Crystal Cage Form Multi-Light Chandelier Embellished with Cut Rock Crystal Obelisks and Prisms. The chandelier features a central cage-form structure of gently curved gilt bronze arms radiating from a baluster-shaped stem and terminating in candle-form sockets. Each arm supports a bobeche from which hang a series of cut rock crystal pendants in teardrop, prism, and faceted diamond shapes, suspended from rosette-shaped crystal buttons. The overall form presents a balanced tiered silhouette, with the upper section adorned by scrolling gilt bronze supports decorated with further crystal drops, culminating in a hanging finial of faceted rock crystal. The chandelier’s gilt bronze frame is finely cast and retains its original gilded surface, contrasting against the clarity of the rock crystal drops. The bobeches are circular with scalloped rims, each centered by a candle sleeve designed in imitation of wax candles. Between the candle arms rise crystal obelisks of faceted form, joined by chains of pendants that enhance the layered design. The lower section terminates in a central crystal sphere supporting a faceted drop finial, completing the symmetrical arrangement typical of cage-form chandeliers.
