About the Item

A stunning and most unique Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood, ormolu and alabaster chandelier. The chandelier is centered by an exquisite and wonderfully executed alabaster bowl with a finely sculpted bottom acorn finial centered by lovely acanthus leaves. Intricately detailed sculpted and etched designs extend along the bowl with beautiful maidens dressed in period attire holding swaging ribbons below a charming wrap around foliate band. Above the lightly curved rim is a finely carved giltwood band with handsome rams heads and charming richly detailed swaging floral garlands. Three ormolu chains lead up to the elegant ormolu foliate top canopy.
