About the Item
A 1950s Italian pendant, attributed to Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte. The saucer form suspends from a tapered brass stem with a newly fabricated canopy, dropping to a three-arm silhouette that cradles layered, domed opaline glass: a broad milky-white top shade over a subtly ombré diffuser, fading from warm sand at the rim to white toward the center.
Slim brass rings trace the diffuser, lending an architectural profile. When lit, the glass casts a mellow, even wash of light—ideal above a dining table or in an entry.
Founded in 1932 in Milan, Fontana Arte occupies a unique space at the crossroads of art and design. Celebrated for its innovative approach to glass, the brand harmonizes traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. Through collaborations with iconic designers like Gae Aulenti and Pietro Chiesa, Fontana Arte has created timeless pieces that elevate everyday environments.
Condition: Great vintage condition, with light wear along the inner edges of the glass. Patina, surface scratches, and marks throughout the brass. This pendant has been professionally rewired by our team of restorationists with a new canopy and sockets. Accepts three E12 base light bulbs.
