About the Item

Italian Late Empire chandelier, carved in wood, richly decorated and water-gilded, adorned with cut glass prisms. The central section features classical Empire motifs, including acanthus details, executed with finely crafted woodcarving. The patinated brass arms terminate in small carved rosettes and bows, continuing the elegant ornamental expression. Swags of prisms connect the arms beautifully. The suspension chains are likewise in brass, and the original gilding presents a lovely, authentic patina. Later electrified (not recently restored), sourced directly from a private manor. Italy, ca. 1820–40.
