Large Empire-style alabaster and bronze chandelier, Germany, ca. 1920.
An impressive sixteen-light alabaster and bronze chandelier. The extra large, exceptional, and masterfully carved white alabaster bowl features delicate carvings and a bronze pine cone finial, a beaded bronze rim, and eight exterior lights, each with an ornate, beautifully sculpted bronze arm and a socket for an E14-size light bulb. Eight interior lights - eight sockets for E27 (E26) size light bulbs. The alabaster bowl is suspended from decorative bronze chains and ends in a large and ornate bronze crown with impressive plumes and a large pine cone finial.
The light shining through the white stone and reflecting on the large ornate crown is warm and atmospheric and it emanates a beautiful ambiance.
Dimensions: height: circa 84 cm / 33.07 in; diameter: 83 cm / 32.67 in.
In good condition with some typical signs of use and aging of alabaster. Two stains on the alabaster lampshade - bowl.
The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we would always suggest it is tested and fitted by a qualified electrician.
