About the Item

A grand and exquisitely detailed large Antique French neoclassical gilt bronze and crystal 9 light bell jar lantern chandelier. This impressive fixture harmoniously blends classical refinement with the innovations of the early electric era. At its heart, a bell-shaped crystal reservoir is suspended by four gracefully twisted gilt bronze supports, which rise to meet a domed corona richly adorned with scrolling motifs and loop finials, evoking architectural symmetry and formal elegance. The gilded bronze arms are further enhanced by delicate white-painted bands encircling both the rim and base of the crystal bell jar, offering a subtle yet refined contrast to the warm gilt finish. Within, a central column supports multiple electric sockets, thoughtfully designed to illuminate both the interior and exterior of the bell jar—an inventive adaptation of traditional 18th-century lantern forms for modern interiors. Six scrolling gilt bronze arms extend gracefully from the jar’s perimeter.
