About the Item
Large French Neoclassical style alabaster and bronze pendant light fixture, ca. 1890.
An impressive late 19th-century alabaster ceiling pendant light. The extra large, beautiful, and masterfully carved soft white/ivory tone alabaster bowl features foliate ornamentation and is suspended from three bronze chains, secured to the bowl with three expressive mascarons, and ends with a large and ornate bronze ceiling rosette.
The light shining through the white stone and reflecting to the large ornate rosette is warm and atmospheric and it emanates a beautiful ambiance both when lit and unlit.
Three new sockets for E27 (E26) size light bulbs.
Dimensions: height: circa 60 cm / 23.62 in; diameter: 54 cm / 21.25 in.
It is in good condition with some typical signs of use and aging of alabaster - three stains on the inside of the alabaster bowl.
The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we suggest it be tested and fitted by a qualified electrician.
