About the Item

Aella (1968) remains one of the icons of Leucos, representing our vision to bring a fresh, contemporary point of view to traditional hand blown glass techniques. As a Maestro from the Veneto region of Italy hand blows Aella, they create a stunning cone of glass frozen in its diffuser. As if by magic, a vortex of light appears to float inside this glass cone and beautifully illuminates your space. Toso Massari’s design inspiration for this glass shape came from Aella (the Ancient Greek word for “whirlwind”), who was the first Amazon warrior bold enough to lunge at Heracles. Updated in 2017 by the original designers, Aella is now available as a table, pendant, ceiling or wall lamp and comes in various shapes and sizes (Aella Mini 30, Aella Mini 25, Aella 1968 Classic, Aella Bold and Aella Thin). Integrated LED technology for improved cost and energy savings. Aella Mini, Bold and Thin suspension can be custom ordered as a multipoint pendant version hanging from one canopy. The sfumato finish, a fading effect, is achieved by a hand blown glass technique that creates a gradient of transparency unique to each diffuser. Antico is a hand blown glass technique that creates dazzling bubbles in the glass (slightly smaller bubbles than a Classic Pulegoso finish). Hand blown in small batches by a Maestro in the Veneto region of Italy. Socket type: Integrated LED. Wattage: 28. Lumens: 3200. Kelvin: 3000. CRI: 80.
