About the Item

A lovely late 19th century gilt bronze and rock crystal eight-light chandelier. Attributed to Gagneau Frères. Full pear shaped and tear drop rock crystal, beaded arms and swags, eight-tiered spears, cut crystal central column. The pre-eminent firm of Gagneau Frères was established in 1800 at 24 rue d'Enghien, Paris, and later at 115 rue de Lafayette, Paris. They exhibited at the major international exhibitions of the 19th century with Fine quality decorative light fittings.
