About the Item

LT 226 table lamp and flower vase with a cylindrical incalmo base in light blue and white glass diffuser, designed by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega, Italy. Year 1970 ca. Carlo Nason (b. 1935, Murano, Venice) is an Italian designer and master glassmaker, known for his Murano glass works and for designing lamps and furnishings with a strong aesthetic and craftsmanship value. Coming from a family with a long tradition of glassmaking, Nason has been able to fuse ancient Murano craftsmanship with a modern and elegant language. Throughout his career he has engaged in collaborations with numerous companies, including one of the longest-lasting and most fruitful with A.V. Mazzega, 1958 to 1980. During this period he designed lamps that have become true icons of Italian design. His works are distinguished by a balance of form, light, and color, but also by constant technical experimentation, which has led him to explore new forms and processing of glass, combining innovation and tradition.
