About the Item

Milanese architect, furniture designer and centenarian Luigi Caccia Dominioni (1913–2016) won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award several times and proved instrumental in rebuilding Milan after the Second World War. He first made a name for himself in the design world through collaboration with brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, with whom he developed a series of cutting-edge radios. In 1947 he co-founded studio and manufacturer Azucena with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua. The LS1 lamp, with its opaline glass globe shade and decorative brass fixture, is one of his most recognisable pieces. In good vintage condition, with a lovely even patina to the brass. Recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards.
