About the Item

An original ‘Lyndon’ chandelier, designed by Vico Magistretti for Oluce in 1977. This Modernist fixture features a candelabra-style body with a chrome-plated finish, extending to enclose hand-blown smoked glass spheres. The suspension design is engineered to provide balanced, diffused illumination. Its clean lines and thoughtful proportions reflect Magistretti's minimalist aesthetic while making a bold statement. Vico Magistretti’s collaboration with Oluce, one of Italy's oldest and most respected lighting manufacturers, stands as a landmark in modern design. Beginning in the 1960s and extending through the 1970s, Magistretti crafted some of his most iconic pieces for Oluce, including the Atollo lamp (1977) and the Lyndon chandelier (1977). These designs are celebrated for their minimalism, innovative use of materials, and seamless blend of form and function, reflecting Magistretti’s commitment to creating both beautiful and practical objects. Magistretti’s work with Oluce has left a lasting legacy in the design world, with his creations still in production and revered today. His approach to design, rooted in functionalism yet imbued with aesthetic refinement, continues to influence contemporary interiors. The partnership between Magistretti and Oluce produced timeless pieces that remain symbols of modernist design, admired for their enduring relevance and striking simplicity.
