About the Item
Celosías–wooden latticework–have played a recurring role in Mexican history. From the country’s deep relationship with religion to its Modernist architecture, Mexico’s appreciation for function and beauty is invoked in these structured forms. The wood partitions shield against the intense Mexican sun while allowing gentle, filtered light to shine through.
In designing this collection of lighting, we recontextualized the concept of celosias while paying homage to the traditional craft. Mirroring the disciplined workmanship of the latticework, the fixtures’ clean lines and floating geometric volumes cast a diffused glow.
Our Celosía Collection is created in collaboration with master woodworker Isaac Castañeda in the Mexican state of Guanajuato and is crafted entirely by hand from locally and responsibly harvested mesquite hardwood.
