About the Item
I am offering for sale a chandelier that showcases the extraordinary craftsmanship of Italian artisans.
Made in Italy around the 70s by the historic company Longobord, this vintage chandelier combines several complex artisan techniques.
The imposing and massive structure is made of wrought iron, which is then gilded with the "gold leaf" technique.
The glass embedded in the iron structure, which recalls the splendid Tiffany lamps but with a more contemporary feel, is not Murano glass but thick Multicolored glass that is worked with another artistic glass technique, called "Dalle de verre " from French: "glass slab".
This artistic glass technique uses very thick glass, which is shaped by breaking it with a hammer or cutting it with a saw.
The resulting pieces, chipped and faceted, create crazy light refraction and reflection effects.
The decorative motif of this chandelier winks at the Liberty style, Art Nouveau with its floral and leafy elements; but made essential, almost graphic by the 70s style.
This chandelier, equipped with 3 lights, is functional and in good vintage condition.
The iron structure has a splendid patina and the glasses are intact.
