Mid-Century Baroque Style Five Arm Blush Pink and Gold Murano Chandelier

About the Item

This pastel pink and gold handcrafted gold-infused Cristallo Murano chandelier has five undulating arms with pink rigaree trimmed bobeches. The chandelier is adorned with two levels of gold infused glass daffodils, with additional pink trimmed fronds on the top array, blooming up and surrounding the center column. The center rod also includes a decorative sphere with wide ribbing and pink trim, connected to the upper most crown of the fixture. The piece has further detailing of scroll stems, descending pink rigaree trim, and a pink trimmed bauble hanging at the bottom; exhibiting a masterful flair in glass craftsmanship. The glass houses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier showcases a mastery of Venetian glass craftsmanship. This mid-century chandelier is a pared-down interpretation of the ‘Ca’Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati in the 18th century. The ‘Ca’Rezzonico’ style is named for the Venetian palace, today a public museum dedicated to 18th century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear Venetian glass, further enhanced with 24-carat gold leaf and pink trims for added visual interest. The pale blush pink color was achieved by adding selected chemical compounds to the silica during melting. To achieve the color, an incredible amount of accuracy is required in terms of proportions and timings. A splendid combination of blushing pink and glimmering gold. This piece is distinguished by its dual toned hues, reminiscent of spring florals basking in the sun. This chandelier demonstrates a delicate conversion of modern and Baroque-style design still loved by many, resulting in a glistening floral centerpiece. Rewired: Rewired for USA, it takes 5 base-size lights, incandescent or LED. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred length. This fixture requires a canopy and chain, which is not included. Wear consistent with age and use. Entirely handcrafted along with the complexities of glassblowing, slight variations can occur. In this case, some of the edges of the petals feel sharp. No cracks or repairs. 1 of the long flowers has a small flea-bit chip. Ships disassembled.
