About the Item

A very rare Mid Century chandelier designed by Danish architect T. H. Valentiner for Poul Dinesen in the 1960s . A classic example of simple and elegant Danish modernism at its best. The whole lamp is made of brass except the white “candles” which are made of plastic. A lovely patina to the surface of the brass with age related wear. This chandelier has been dismantled and all parts cleaned. Completely rewired with the option of grounding at the gallery on the hanging hook. E14 bulb holders. LED bulbs recommended or 25W incandescent. . Can be connected to a dimmer switch. This T. H. Valentiner chandelier is fitted with 10 lampshades in house made at Gallery Sixty One. This beautiful material is cotton with hand printed flowers and designed by Swedish designer Lisbeth Jobs and with a dia. of 15 cm. Valentiner worked closely with Danish manufacturer Poul Dinesen, who produced several of his most iconic models Th. Valentiner belongs to the group of less documented but highly esteemed Danish designers who helped define modern lighting culture in the 1950s and 60s. Although there is not much biographical information about him, his lamps testify to a designer with technical skills and a sure understanding of form. Today, Valentiner lamps are rare collector's items and are valued for their craftsmanship and timeless elegance.

A Mid Century 18 Arm Tulip Pendant Chandelier By Fog and Mørup Of Denmark
By Fog Mørup
Located in Søborg, DK
A very elegant and classic 18 arm tulip pendant chandelier by Fog and Mørup of Denmark Hand blown white opaline glass shades. E14 bulb holders A lovely age related wear and patina to the surfaces. The hand blown glass shades are in great condition with no cracks. Rewired and grounded. Glass shades will be removed for shipping. Responsible worldwide shipping available. The company was founded on 1 June 1904 by ironmonger Ansgar Fog (1880-1930) as a trading company in Aarhus. The following year, wholesaler Erik Mørup (1879-1972) was admitted as a partner. In 1906 it moved to Copenhagen. In 1915, the company was expanded with a factory for lamps and chandeliers, and in 1948 it was transformed into a limited company. At the same time, Mørup became chairman of the board and Alfred Emanuel Gillesberg (1895-1959) managing director. In 1956, Fog & Mørup moved to a new factory at Sydmarken 46 in Søborg designed by Preben Hansen. Fog & Mørup is probably best known for the Kongelyslampen, which got its name when Fog & Mørup presented the lamp to King Christian X on his 25th anniversary in 1937. The table lamp was made of bronzed brass and cost DKK 35.50. Fog & Mørup had great success with the sale of this model. Fog & Mørup's heyday was the 1960s and 1970s, when Jo Hammerborg and other designers created a large number of both original and salable models of lamps. In 1978, Fog & Mørup was acquired by competitor LYFA. Fog & Mørup's production was moved from Sydmarken in Søborg to LYFA in Måløv for better utilization of the production capacity. In 1988, LYFA took over the lighting company ABO in Assentoft near Randers, which was particularly known for magnetic ball lamps produced in the 1970s. Only one year later, in 1989, LYFA was taken over by the listed company Lyskær Belysning A/S. The company's new name became Lyskær-Lyfa A/S in October 1989, but already in 1991 the company was bought by Horn Belysning...
