About the Item

Amazing mid-century bamboo and rattan round chandelier. Louis Sognot probably designed this extraordinary in France during the 1960s. An excellent example of mid-century craftsmanship, where bamboo and rattan are perfectly blended and shaped in a sinuous way. The chandelier is designed like a cage, trapping the bulb and adding elegance to the light distribution in the environment. This item is a gorgeous element that will enrich a mid-century outdoor project or an eclectic living room. Louis Sognot was a French designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by Art Deco and Cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic touch while still being usable. Born on May 25, 1892 in Paris, France, Sognot studied at École Bernard-Pablissy before working as a designer at the Au Printemps department store in Paris in 1919. The designer became a founding member of the Union des Artistes Decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in Paris, France.
