About the Item

Stunning midcentury bamboo and rattan chandelier. This astonishing piece was produced in France during the 1960s and it is attributed to Louis Sognot. A wonderful example of midcentury artisanal work, where bamboo and rattan are perfectly blended and shaped in a sinuous way, like a fisherman's hat. It is a magnificent piece for an outdoor midcentury project. There is no electrical system, that can be installed on request for every country or electrical system. Louis Sognot was a French designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by Art Deco and Cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic flair while also being usable. Born on May 25, 1892 in Paris, France, Sognot studied at the École Bernard-Pablissy before working as a designer at the Au Printemps department store in Paris in 1919. The designer went on to become a founding member of the Union des Artistes Decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in Paris, France.
