About the Item

This chandelier is a reinterpretation of the Louis XV style (with its three floors in the form of a capped eight) but also of the First Empire style (with the balloon models with metal crowns). Mixing these two inspirations in an original creation, it is composed of two superimposed hot-air balloons, surmounted by a floor of drops and small arms with rosettes. Two gilded bronze crowns support the sixteen arms of light. The whole is magnified by the laces that adorn the two balloons and by rock crystal pendants. Crystal rosettes and a globe surrounded by a dagger complete this assembly. A similar model in the Louis XV style can be found in the collections of the Louvre Museum, dating from 1750 (inv. O.A. 5137). The chandelier in the empress’s bathroom at the Château de Fontainebleau, dating from 1809, also offers an eloquent parallel to the balloon model with a metal crown. We have one chandelier in stock however we can produce them made to measure and in other finishes such as 18k gold, 24k gold, silver, black nickel (or any bespoke finish). This chandelier is an original variation of the chain models that could be found in the 18th century, such as the Louis XVI period torchiere chandelier in the Château de Versailles. On a central openwork bowl surmounted by a metal dagger, twelve arms of light are spread out. Each of these supports a cup in the centre of which a flower bud wick is in full bloom. Four arms extending from the central dagger connect the central cup to a small tray decorated with rosettes and pendants. These same pendants are repeated under the bowl and on the light arms. This composition creates two superimposed parts, the first in bronze, very light because of the spacing of the arms, and the second in rock crystal, more dense, like a forest. We have this one in stock however we can reproduce it in an other finish or in an other size. We manufacture most of our orders bespoke : from models of our collection that we can adapt to required dimensions, from antiques models which will allow often to get a set or more of identical models, or we can create from scratch the model of our clients.
