Brand van Egmond was founded by William Brand in 1989. After graduating from the School of Arts he sought absolute freedom to create without restraints. The atelier, located just outside Amsterdam, is well known for its artistic and sculptural approach to lighting. Every year new collections of lighting sculptures are born, adding character to some of the most beautiful spaces across the globe. Combining infinite patience with love for handwork, Brand van Egmond pays homage to the time-honored tradition of craftsmanship. Created to last for generations, its quality protects it from the passage of time. Their clientele is as eclectic as their collections: ranging from Royals to Rappers. Furthermore, there is the possibility to have any personal wish translated into handcrafted reality: a tailor-made light created for you. FOUNDER, ARCHITECT AND ARTIST WILLIAM BRAND Having studied architecture at the School of Arts, William for several years created buildings and interiors for leading fashion brands. His interior designs are always minimalistic, in contrast to his lighting which has a powerful sculptural presence. He considers his lights the focal point of a space: adding emotion and character. Besides creating the regular collections, William is at times commissioned to create a unique lighting installation. His work has been on display at art museums in the USA (SCAD), Turkey (Museum of Modern Art) and during several editions of the world’s leading art fair Tefaf.
