About the Item
This monumental mid-century stained glass dome chandelier, dating from around the 1960s–70s, features a breathtaking 200 cm (78.7 in) diameter and is constructed entirely from hand-cut, leaded stained glass. The dome is supported by its original forged iron framework and encircled by a solid wooden outer ring, giving the piece remarkable architectural presence.
Likely produced in a Central European glass atelier (Germany or Austria), it reflects the tradition of large-scale stained glass installations found in grand public interiors of the period.
A newly crafted mounting system has been added to complete the piece: a hand-forged iron suspension with a solid brass ceiling canopy, both finished with subtle black decorative accents. The patinated brass and iron elements have been carefully matched to harmonize with the warm tones of the glass. Suspended from four sturdy chains, the chandelier can have its hanging height shortened or extended upon request to suit the installation space.
Fully rewired and fitted with eight bulb sockets, the chandelier is installation-ready and suitable for statement placement in hotel lobbies, galleries, or private estates. With its scale, craftsmanship, and historic character, this is not merely a light fixture, but a rare architectural centrepiece.
