About the Item

Impressive chandelier with 76 Murano glass elements from the 1960s. The ingenious structure consists of cascading pieces of hand-blown Murano glass hanging from subtle metal chains that are connected to a round metal ceiling plate. The spheres are in Pulegoso glass, an opaque decorative glass with small bubbles in it. The innovative technique was invented in Murano. The bubbles are the result of a reaction caused by a component that was added during the process of glassblowing. The glass is illuminated from within by five light bulbs in the inner structure, which creates a soft diffused light. Using a dimmer enhances this effect even more. The piece is in very good vintage condition. The glasses are intact, but due to the vintage nature of this fixture and the fact that each glass is handmade irregularities in the glass elements may occur. The ceiling plate shows some traces caused by time and usage. The chandelier comes with a complimentary matching wall lamp. This model consists of six similar pulegoso glass elements and a metal frame.
